VISITING PERUGIA!

Hello! Today was one of the most beneficial days spent here in Italy! I absolutely loved it! We began the day by grabbing some coffee and pastries at the villa before heading off to the bus to visit the University of Perugia. The photo listed below is the main building for the university. There, we met an Italian  dietitian who specializes in public health and researching breast cancer. She led us through the campus and  gave us a lecture on ways to prevent cancer and promoted healthier lifestyles.

She walked us though how nearly 50% of the most common cancers can be prevented by exercise, diet and healthy lifestyle. This was influential to me to be able to see how other countries view nutrition and to see how they are working to cure cancer.

Then we left to Assisi and were able to tour San Francesco Basilica. Unfortunately, we were not able to take pictures inside the Basilica but it was very beautiful. We were able to see the actual tomb of Saint Francis and the artwork throughout the the Basilica was magnificent. The talent of artwork was beyond amazing and the entire place was filled with beautiful pictures. I thought it was really interesting that people actually came to pray to Saint Francis's dead bones and that they were lighting candles in his name. This wasn't something I was familiar with and it seemed interesting to me.

We were able to walk around the city and shop which was also fun. Dinner was absolutely wonderful! We had such unique dishes and the view of the Basilica at night was gorgeous! I hope I will remember days like today for the rest of my life.
