Bona Sera! Today is Friday May 19th and we traveled around Umbria! We ate breakfast at the villa and had another language class with Catia to learn numbers and helpful greetings in Italian. We then took a 30 minute bus ride to visit a legume and grain farm in Perugia called "Azienda Agricola Bittarelli." It was surrounded by the most beautiful countryside and is worked by 4 family members. The large farm produces and sells legumes, olive oils, pasta, and flour.

They also had animals as well. We were able to meet the owner and he reminded me of my Papa, who was also a hard-working farmer. I bought some of the items they sold and we had a delicious 5 course meal for lunch - all with items from their farm. 

Then we were able to stop at Castiglione del Lago, a medieval fortress and castle. The view from the top overlooks most of Lake Trasimeno which is absolutely beautiful! The inside of the castle had the most magnificent paintings on the ceilings of every room. It was a sign of wealth back in the day and was very neat to walk through and see. 

 After, we walked around the village and got gelato. We ended the night with a delicious dinner at the villa consisting of legume soup, fried eggplant, many vegetables we had collected at the market yesterday and lastly, gelato!
